Barcelona, Spain is a gorgeous city that is packed full of things to see and do. Here are a few recommendations that we thought you'd like:
  • Church of the Sacred Family (Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia)
An incomplete, roofless masterpiece from the eccentric Catalan architect, Antoni Gaudi. A famous proponent of avant-garde modernismo style, the Sagrada Familia is his most idiosyncratic piece of architecture. The castle looks like a washed out, melting sand castle. The crypt (where Gaudi is buried), apse and facade were the only pieces completed before his death. A museum at the crypt displays scales models of his visions and authorities say it may not be completed for 20-30 more years.

  • Picasso Museum (Museu Picasso)
This museum is a must for all Pablo Picasso lovers. Beginning with sketchbooks from his childhood and doodles from a 9 year old, soon to be genius, the museum follows Picasso's evolution as an artist. Paintings that hint of his Blue Period, Cubist variations and the famous Velazquez painting. It is the largest Picasso collection, with over 3600 pieces of work.

  • National Art Museum of Catalonia (Museu Nacional d`Art de Catalunya - MNAC)
The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya houses the finest collection of Romanesque and Gothic paintings, sculpture and metalwork in all of Europe. Exhibited in sequential order, the master artworks offer a fascinating trip through the evolution of the Romanesque style, so prevalent in churches between the 11th and 13th centuries. Don't miss the Pantocrator from the main apse of the Church of San Clemente de Taull, dated 1123.

  • La Pedrera - Mila House (Casa Mila)
This building is an amazing display if architecture that Antoni Guadi completed in 1911. La Pedrera is Spanish for stone quarry, and that is where the inspiration for the building came from. If you look at it from the outside, it looks like the different layers that you might see in a stone quarry.  When you are in Barcelona, you must pay this unique building a visit and see why it is a top site to see.

  • Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic)
The Gothic Quarter in Barcelona, Spain, is a part of the city that is nestled in the old town. Take a stroll down the narrow cobblestone streets and look at the various building styles, many of them dating back to medieval times and ancient Roman times. This is a very unique part of the cities and you do not want to visit Barcelona and not see this. Spend a day walking through the this extraordinary part of town and discover the rich history on the Gothic Quarter.

  • Guell Park (Parc Guell)
Guell Park is a must see when you are on vacation, or just visiting, Barcelona, Spain. Originally, the park was conceived by Eusebi Guell, who wanted it to be a modernistic park for the nobility of Barcelona. The was built by Antoni Gaudi, the same man that built the La Pedrera - Mila House (Casa Mila), and you will notice some of the same naturalistic inspiration between his two structures. Be sure to make it the very top of the park, because once you are up there, you will have some of the most breathtaking, panoramic views of Barcelona. You will enjoy a trip to Guell Park.
