Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; does that phrase sound familiar to you? Well it should, because it's from a little document that we call the Declaration of Independence. A document that our country was founded on. The back bone of all our beliefs. And this among many other important documents find their home in this town of Pennsylvania. Not only is this city aesthetically pleasing in its appearance, but also in its' rich heritage. Some of the most powerful people in American history have found their home here or held some very important meetings here. You can find the birthplace of our Constitution here. Experience it in person for yourself while in town at the National Constitution Center.
Home to one of the greatest NFL teams of all the times: The Philadelphia Eagles, this city takes great pride in it's sports accomplishments. Trading Donovan McNabb and acquiring Michael Vick has been a very eventful history for the Eagles. Now with questions of Kevin Kolb as a starting quarterback, the Eagles must make a decision and commit to one QB so the offensive line and other backs can get use to a single QB and flourish in their success.
While in town between checking out the amazing historical sights and hanging in local sports bars watching the Eagles kick butt, make sure to pick up a rental car so you can travel around town in ease. I love getting a rental car, it helps me save gas rather than driving my big diesel, I rent a small 4 door Audi a4 or another small luxury car. I like to travel in style while on vacation, and can you blame me? They are beautiful machines.
Valley Forge National Historical Park is a great place to take the family while you are in town. Be sure to take the youngens on a tour of the very grounds where the Revolutionary War was fought. Although no actual battle was fought here, more people died than in the battle of Brandywine and Germantown combined together. More than 2 thousand people died here. Even though no battle was fought here, there was a war fought-the war against nature and disease. Visit this historic place where General Washington sent his men for the winter.
There are several ways to see all of Philly, by far the funnest is to take a sight seeing tour that they offer. You will see every stretch of the city and experience history in your own eyes. You can take a fun segway tour or even a double Decker bus tour. Both are offered in this amazing town. There are plenty of different companies to choose from as well. So don't go with the first one you find. Try to find a real bargain or a deal. It'll save you money in the long run, trust me.
Having more than 6.2 million inhabitants in the city limits, Philadelphia is far richer in its history than its population. Convening in the Continental Congress as well as writing of the Declaration of Independence, Philadelphia has saw more than its' fair share of historical moments. Be sure to try and soak up as many of them as possible while you are in this beautiful town.
Where ever you may go in this windy city, be sure to try a delicious mouth watering Philly Cheese steak. Invented here in Philly, you will experience one of the most amazing foods you could ever imagine. You have to have it the tradition way too, with onions and peppered grilled up and placed on top of this tasty treat. Dip it in au jus and enjoy. A city classic that locals go crazy for day in an day out.
